Introducing... in person, well sort of, that 5 foot 6 point something or other which technically means she's considered 5 foot 7 but as with most things she's really not quite there...

That bundle of chaos;

Yasmin Saoirse!

Hi!

I’m Yasmin Saoirse and a week ago, I turned 26.

Not a big deal right? Wrong.

I turned 26 and I realised I have got to this stage in my life setting very few confirmed or verbalised goals for myself. I have always had aspirations, dreams. But no true set goals. A destination to aim for, that it would be ok for me to miss, it is the journey that matters most after all.

I am a disorganised person by nature but at the age of 26 there is really no excuse for this. Millennial blues, Global pandemic, doesn’t mean I can’t plan. So, I made a list; What do I want to do in my life. And the answer was simple; I want to travel.

I caught the bug when I was a child. My mother and grandmother took me to Egypt to see the Pyramids. I had become obsessed with ancient Egyptian history. Every spare moment I was reading, learning everything I could. And then I was there.

I had no idea this was possible. That these places still exist! And I was standing right there, in the heart of it all. It was a dream come true. And I wanted more.

This blog will follow my adventures, from a personal perspective with the occasional professional insight from my time as a London based tour guide.

Things you should know about me before we dive in;

  • I am a history nerd, I’m like a sponge. Soaking up everything I can. And worse, I like to share what I have learned. This blog and my social media are where I will be ringing it out.
  • I love a good deal. I seek them out and I wait patiently for them. And I love telling everyone about them so they can utilise them too.
  • I am on; Instagram, Facebook, twitter, tiktok and Pinterest. You can find links to these at the bottom of this page.
  • I love pretty things, especially if they’re shiny. I’m like a magpie.
  •  My favourite colour is pink, probably not a surprise.
  • I live with a chronic pain condition known as fibromyalgia. I also have various other disabilities. I am very open about these and do plan to discuss them further.
  • I am a triple threat, I have dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia! So please do excuse the occasional typo or vocabulary related mess.
  • I am, you may have noticed already, quite sarcastic. There I go again.
  • I am still learning; I like to learn from others. If I have got something wrong or there’s something you think I should know about please drop me a message on the contact me page or on social media.
  • And lastly, I am unavoidably political. I have tried. But I am not very good at keeping my opinion to myself when it comes to situations of injustice or discrimination. If I did I wouldn’t be, being me. I am active in UK politics. So, in the interest of transparency and full disclosure; this blog is an LGBTQI+ and Disability safe space. We respect everyone’s pronouns, identities and experiences here. With everything going on in the world right now, existing is a political act for some of us.

I am so excited to be starting this blog and I can not wait to take you on my journey with me.
